In my
own words, I would describe media as the communication outlets or tools used to
store and deliver information or data. The term refers to components of the
mass media communications industry, such as print media, publishing, the news
media, photography, cinema, broadcasting, digital media, and advertising. Now, as
far as social networking goes, social networking services allow you to network
and are a good way to maintain relationships with friends online. It can also
help you find ways to get a job. For example, there is a website called
LinkedIn where you can put your resume out there, build connections with other
people, and give yourself a great shot at a company seeing it and employing
you.
My
three favorite social media platforms are Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. I
use Twitter to keep up with current events and sports, Instagram to keep up
with close friends and celebrities I follow, and Facebook to stay in touch with
my adopted family and distant family who live in Colombia and Buffalo,
respectively. As you can see, each of these platforms serves a different
purpose since some people are more active on certain platforms. As far as these
platforms go, I mostly use Instagram. I rarely post on Twitter; I don't have a
lot of followers, and it's just for news. I post on Instagram regularly to keep
my family updated on my life, and every now and then I post an album on
Facebook to keep my family updated.
Overall, social media makes me feel good because I use it for the right reasons. I try not to compete with other people and always have good intentions when posting. Social media can turn into a bad place if you fall for its traps and give in. I could never comment on something negative in another post. If I write about something, it is positive and uplifting. I would never wish bad things on anybody, especially on social media. I don't believe anyone should feel bad while using social media. It's such a unique place to be for the right reasons, and I would hate to see others miss out on it because others were being treated poorly on it.
